Hey there! Welcome to my review of the anime from the Summer 2015 season.
I’ll be reviewing everything that I watched from Summer and giving each anime a rating at the end of each review.
Let’s start from the bottom and work our way up.
Our first up…
(Studio: Feel)
Bikini Warriors is an anime about a group of four women who are supposed to be “heroes” but struggle to be such and fail in many comedic ways. Clocking in at 12 episodes at 5 minutes a piece this show is set in an RPG style world where beautiful “bountiful” adventures form parties to challenge a demon king for the right to rule the land.
The Four Characters Dark Elf(Voiced by: Chiaki Takahashi) , Fighter(Voiced by: Yoko Hikasa), Mage(Voiced by: Ai Kakuma) and Paladin(Voiced by: Kana Ueda) are the ones to take on the task of saving the world. In order to reach their goal they barter with villagers and fight numerous monsters all the while dressed in sexy and scantily clad bikinis.
The show itself is in particular an okay show, it can be very random and if your not fond of episodes revolving around heroines that end up in ecchi situations then Bikini Warriors may not be for you. Though of course if you actually like that sort of thing, then Bikini Warriors is for you.
All together, Bikini Warriors ecchiness works for and against it. It works for a show that has bumbling protagonist that get caught in a “Monster” Trap almost every time they fight a monster. It works against it because it becomes the plot of a few episodes and can get out of hand when it does. But with the story/character interaction being the main fun of the show it can balance itself out.
So for me Bikini Warriors gets a 6/10

The continuation of the first season, Cinderella Girls season 2 continues on from the first season but with a new amount of drama.
A Woman name Mishiro is assigned as the new general executive producer for 346 productions and begins to change things. For better or worse is still to be seen unfortunately.
The pacing of season 2 is a bit off from the pacing of season 1 and it slows the show to an almost crawl unfortunately. If you liked the first season then the second season might turn you off because of the slow pacing. The story itself is definitely dragged down by the pacing as well especially with how many girls the show has to focus on.
Unfortunately the drama side to the show is also big enough to throw the show way out of proportion, the most of drama stems from the “struggle” of being an idol and from the new general executive producer trying to break up all the other small groups in order to form one big super group.
All together, Cinderella Girls season 2 has been a lot more slower than season 1 and the character development is the saving grace for season 2 unfortunately. With the unfortunate pacing and slow building story/character development Cinderella Girls season 2 gets a 6/10 from me.

After the Frontier incident, everyone who knew the circumstances believed the Noise where gone but a new conflict arises. A group wielding mysterious technology stands in the way of Hibiki and the other girls. The Symphogear users are forced into another difficult fight and in this situation of extreme disparity, the battle for the song that will end the world begins…
Symphogear GX continues on from the second season with a brand new evil arising to the forefront to destroy the world using alchemy. Controlled by the girl named Carol Malus Dienheim who has created Autoscorers(living dolls) that are able to summon what are known as “Alca-Noise”(a hybrid of Alchemy and Noise creatures, they are able to destroy Symphogears) and are tasked with protecting Carol as she tries to fulfill her dream of destroying the world with Alchemy.
Through the progression of the season the Symphogear users fight this new evil and learn that it will take a lot more than just the regular Symphogears to beat Carol and her Autoscorers, thus with the creation of the “Ignite Module”(created by Carol’s sister/alter ego/other memories? Elfnine) a new hope is born.
Like the other Symphogear seasons the music plays a huge roll in the show by setting up scenes for battle sequences and high emotional moments. Also like the other seasons character development is a high mark in the show, with the continual growing up of all the Symphogear users(i.e. Hibiki, Chris etc.) it plays as one of the shows strong points. The Battle sequences are also a huge huge portion of this season as well, each sequence is done with great detail that really stands out.
All together, with a fairly good story combined with great music, character development and well done Battle Sequences, Symphogear GX is definitely the stand out amongst the three seasons of Symphogear.
Symphogear GX gets an 8/10 from me!

In a city known as Ergastulum, a shady ville filled with made men and petty thieves, whores on the make and cops on the take, there are some deeds too dirty for even its jaded inhabitants to touch. Enter Nic and Worrick, they are known as “Handymen” and they take care of the jobs no one else will handle. After becoming a witness to the slaughter that the Handymen commit, they take in Alex who they refuse to silence.
At first glance Gangsta gave off a very Black Lagoon vibe with it’s character design and right off the bat violence. But it’s actually very far from Black Lagoon, Gangsta hits just below that standard. Though it can be very slow paced sometimes, it’s constant character development of everyone in Ergastulum makes the show a great deal more interesting. From learning about Nic, Worrick and Alex’s backgrounds to learning about what “Tags” and “Twilights” are, Gangasta takes its combined effort of story telling mixed with character develop, violence and slow pacing to make a pretty good anime all together!
With all this, Gangsta gets an 8/10 from me!
(Studio: Seven)
Izumi Hayato is running to be Student Council President but when a beautiful girl swings in promising the liberalization of love while flinging condoms into the audience. The newly elected student council president Ui Wakana invites herself over to Izumi’s where she promptly announces that she will become Izumi’s wife because of a drunken agreement between their parents when they where only three.
Okusama ga Seitokachiou is a romantic comedy with many R+ moments during its 8 minute per episode run time. With the definite brewing romance between Ui and Izumi mixing with the comedic timing of the sometimes “ecchi” situations they’re caught in makes Okusama a fun show. Of course the only take away from this show is the fact that Izumi somewhat capitalizes on Ui’s constant sexual advances but not completely. It almost feels like those moments don’t fit the shows atmosphere. But beyond that the show itself is very well put together with its unique premise/art style.
All together, Okusama ga Seitokaichou gets an 8/10 from me!
(Studio: Lerche)
Several murder cases take place at a middle school and a genius detective in Kogorou Akechi comes to investigate, there he meets a boy named Yoshio Kobayashi who takes an interest in Akechi and volunteers to be his assistant.
Ranpo Kitan was something a little bit different from the normal anime out there, with it’s mix of murder mystery/dark humor it stands out from the rest this season. The murders are very unique in each case during the anime, with the first dealing with using human body parts as furniture, the show builds itself off the tense atmosphere but also the dark comedy adds on to the aspect of the show as well.
All together Ranpo Kitan mixes mystery/dark humor/good storytelling and fun character interaction for something a little bit different and pretty cool. Ranpo Kitan gets an 8/10 from me.

Working!!! or Working Season 3 is the continuation of our favorite group of restaurant workers!
The third season continues to explore the relationships of everyone in Wagnaria and still keeps its fun humor and comedic timing. With Minami and Takanashi along with Satou and Yachiyo being the main focus for relationships, they finally tie up quite a lot of loose ends in this season. There is also a huge focus on both Yamada with her family and Takanashi with his family, both of which where quite interesting!
With the loose ends being tied up and Working keeping its same really fun humor, Working Season 3 gets an 8/10 from me!
(Studio: Liden Films, Sanzigen)
Miss Monochrome Season 2 is the continuation of the Miss Monochrome story. Clocking in at 13 episodes at 8 minutes apiece, Miss Monochrome S2 is about Miss Monochrome’s continuing adventure to become a popular idol. For those that don’t know Miss Monochrome seeks to become as popular as the forever seventeen idol Kikuko.
With it’s fun comedy combined with positive character interaction, Miss Monochrome gets an 8/10 from me!

Hachimitsu Private Academy, a storied all-girls boarding school on the outskirts in Tokyo, for the new school year, boys are being allowed to enroll. But only five boys make the cut, Kiyoshi, Gakuto, Shingo, Joe and Andre are the lucky few. Unfortunately they don’t know the shocking fate that awaits them.
Prison School uses the combination of Comedy, Violence, Drama and Character Interaction to it’s advantage. With the interactions between the boys(and the constant misunderstandings), the underground student council and the other students, Prison School adds more and more to the story as it goes through it’s story. The mix of Comedy, Violence and Drama may be strange to some but under the guidance of J.C. Staff, it actually works really well. It does stay faithful to the manga as well for those who have read the manga.
With a great story that has a mix of comedy, violence and drama matched with great character interaction. Prison School gets an 8.5/10 from me.

In August 20XX, a portal to a parallel world known as the “Gate” appears in Ginza, Tokyo. Monsters and Troops poured out of the portal turning Ginza into a bloody inferno. The Japan Ground-Self Defense Force took action and pushed the fantasy creatures back to the Gate. To Facilitate negotiations and prepare for future fights, the JGSDF dispatched the Third Reconnaissance Team to the “Special Region” at the other side of the Gate.
Gate is an action adventure fantasy anime with little bit of comedy mixed in. One of the big draws to Gate is the action, with the Modern Military moving into a fantasy land where Swords, Bow and Arrows and Lances are the weapons of choice, it leads to some really fun battle seens with the JSDF vs. the opposing forces. The other is the character interaction, with people from a more modern era meeting people who are used to Knights, Princesses and Dragons makes quite an interesting time.
You also get to learn quite a lot about how things work for both sides of the board in Gate. The politics of both sides are quite interesting, though sometimes it can play against the show itself with the pacing of the discussions.
So with everything that happens in and out of the show, Gate gets an 8.5/10 from me. I look forward to the second half in the Winter Season!

An original story from the creator of Angel Beats and Clannad(Jun Maeda), Charlotte is an anime about the supernatural lives of teenagers and the price they pay for being special.
Charlotte is one of the sleeper anime from this season, it takes quite a few twists and turns through out the show that make the story super exciting. The main character Yuu Otosaka is very well written character, from learning how to use his power to almost losing his mind later, his character interactions with the rest of the cast are one of the huge focal points for Charlotte.
With a well written story, fantastic character interaction and great pacing, Charlotte gets an 8.5/10 from me!

Meet, Kuromine Asahi, he has a problem…he can’t lie! He has a crush on the popular girl in his school named Shiragami Youko. One day on his way home, he learns a secret about his crush…so now he has to keep her secret or she’ll be taken away from school.
Jitsu wa is a romantic comedy with a monster twist, that makes it just a bit different from rest. Not only does it have a monster aspect but it also has an abundance of comedy, an eventual harem twist, fantastic character interaction and a really well built story.
The comedy aspect plays to the monster twist with having to hide everyone’s secrets and the many ecchi moments between Asahi and the other girls which plays into the eventual harem setting as well with each girl developing their own feelings for Asahi. It also builds towards the character interaction as well when each girl talks to Asahi and we learn about each of them individually and from there it works into the story with the pacing of the relationships between characters.
So with everything working into each other we get Jitsu wa Watashi wa one of the sleeper hits from this season, it gets an 8.5/10 from me!
That was 17-6! Are you ready for the top 5? because here we go!

Umaru Doma is a renowned beautiful 16 year old girl in town, living with her older brother Taihei. She may act like the perfect sister with a kind heart, intellegence and popularity but when she’s at home she turns into a layabout who enjoys sleeping, gaming, watching tv, eating junk food and drinking cola. In essence she becomes a Himouto!
Himouto Umaru-chan is the perfect mix of comedy and slice of life, with Umaru’s antics and shenanigans with her older brother Taihei and her interactions between herself and her classmates Ebina, Kirie and Tachibana.
The comedy aspect comes from her constant disagreements between Umaru and her Brother when she’s in “Himouto” mode and her having to hide her Himouto self from her classmates. The Slice of Life aspect comes from when she interacts with each of her classmates, when she’s her normal self with Ebina, when she’s her Himouto self with Kirie and when she hides her identity but still has fun with Tachibana.
With the perfect mix of Comedy and Slice of Life Himouto Umaru-chan can be considered comedy of the season and with that it gets a 9/10 from me!

Shimoneta to Iu Gainen ga Sonzai Shinai Taikutsu na Sekai
Sixteen years after the “Law for Public Order and Morals in Healthy Child-Raising” banned everything that was considered lewd, Tanukichi Okuma enrolls in the country’s leading public morals school where he meets Ayame Kajou the leader of Anti-Societal Organization(SOX) and gets blackmailed into joining. He ends up taking part in obscene acts of terrorism against the student council president Anna, who he has a crush on.
Shimoneta is the perfect mix of Comedy and Ecchi, With Tanukichi constantly coming to terms with the insane amounts of lewdness that surrounds him in SOX and his avoidance of the Crazy president in Anna and with Ayame’s foul sense of humor, Otome’s lewd drawings and battling different lewd enemies.
Shimoneta is something new and unique to anime with it’s lewd sense of comedy and very fun ecchi, also with one of the best OP/ED combos of the season Shimoneta gets a 9/10 from me!
(Studio: Tatsunoko Productions)
A year has passed since the “Tachikawa Incident” in Summer 2015. CROWDS, the system that turns mentality of humans into physical form has spread among the public. The Prime Minister backs the plan but not everyone agrees with his policy. However, peace is threatened by the mysterious organization “VAPE”, calling the Gatchaman to action once more, including their newest member, the impulsive Tsubasa Misudachi.
Insight is the continuation of the Gatchaman Crowds franchise, New problems arise for the Gatchaman with new enemies and new inner problems. With the organization VAPE causing problems along with the arrival of new member Tsubasa and Gelsadra an alien from a different world.
Insight combines action, sci-fi, great writing and really good animation to make an amazing second season. The action was stepped up to another level for Insight, with the battles between CROWDS and VAPE, Gatchaman and VAPE and eventually Gatchaman and Geldsadra. The action is definitely on the level of a Sentai show with season 2. The Sci-Fi definitely stems from the addition of Gelsadra the alien and the problems that stem from him trying to bring everyone together as one.
With all these thing thrown together, Gatchaman Crowds Insight makes a fantastic season 2 and it gets a 9/10 from me.
(Studio: Gonzo)
Futaba Ichinose is a rookie seiyuu taking her first steps into the world of professional voice acting! She may be unsure of herself, but Futaba is ready to make it as a professional seiyuu. She meets Ichigo Moesaki, an actress who won’t stop until she’s an idol seiyuu who not only acts but also sings and dances. They are joined by Rin Kohana who is already a seasoned professional who made her debut at the age of 5, who has a middle school life while working as a professional seiyuu.
Following in the footsteps of the behind the scenes anime Shirobako, Sore ga Seiyuu shows what it’s like for a new voice actor to go through the steps to become a professional voice actor. While Seiyu’s Life can be labeled as a comedy and a slice of life, there are some also serious aspects to the story as well. Between the three girls, they have some funny moments with Futaba’s bumbling and Ichigo’s chuuni side. Though again the serious aspect of the show stems from the ups and downs of being a Seiyuu, with Futaba worrying about her getting work, Ichigo struggling to become popular and Rin trying to balance her school life and her work life.
With all the aspects of a Seiyuu’s life mixed together in this great anime, Sore ga Seiyuu gets a 9/10 from me.
AND MY NUMBER ONE ANIME FROM SUMMER!
(Studio: Lerche)
Monsters-they’re real and they want to date us! Three years ago, the world learned that mythical creatures like Harpies, Centaurs and all manner of fabulous creatures are not merely fiction; They are flesh and blood! Thanks to the “Cultural Exchange between Species Act”, these once mythical creatures have assimilated into society or at least they’re trying to.
Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou or Everyday life of Monster Girls is based of the manga of the same name by Okayado. It follows Kurusu Kimihito who has been “inducted” into the exchange program, his world gets turned upside down when he meets Miia the Lamia, Papi the Harpy, Cerea the Centaur, Suu the Slime, Mero the Mermaid and Rachnera the Spider.
MonMus is a mix of comedy, ecchi, harem and romance…all with Monster Girls. The comedy aspect definitely stems from all the girls trying to get Kimihito to fall in love with them, which can lead to some hilarious moments where the girls end up hurting Kimihito while trying to prove their love. Of course that does lead to some great ecchi moments as the girls try to claim Kimihito as their official mate, which is funny because MonMus did originally start as a doujin series. Both the Harem and the Romance come from the multiple girls who join Kimihito in his house and end up falling in love with him when they see a more gentle and caring side.
With everything mixing together and with the anime staying true to the manga, Monster Musume gets a 10/10 from me. The only show to get a 10/10 from me this season.
So that’s it! that was my top anime from Summer 2015! I hope you enjoyed reading through this and hopefully this influences you to maybe watch some of the shows listed!
So until next this this is Pervy Fatman,
I’ll See You on the Other Side.
